United Methodist Women

The Vision of United Methodist Women: Turning faith, hope and love into action on behalf of women, children and youth around the world.

The United Methodist Women are a vital part of the ministries and missions at Keller UMC. They offer a variety of connection groups for study and fellowship. Women of all ages are invited to join a circle or more than one circle!

Crafty Crafters meet on the first Wednesday of each month (September-March) at 9:30am in  DAC 414.  The craft projects are given to local organizations, such as Keller Senior Activities Center, Cook Children's Hospital and Meals on Wheels. Items are also made for Sharing the Joy, which supports the mission of the United Methodist Women. Each craft is completed in approximately 1 1/2 hours.  No previous experience or skills required! It is a great time of fellowship together while completing a meaningful project. For more information, contact Janette Gerig, 682-667-5662.

Mary Circle meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month (September-May) from 10-11:30am in DAC 414. All women of the church are invited to this group that combines studies of UMW literature with service projects. For more information, contact Robyn Childress.

A United Methodist Women book club that meets the third Friday of each month (September-May) at 10am in DAC 416. Book titles are chosen from the approved UMW reading list on social issues. RSVP and let us know you are coming and if you will need a book! For more information, contact Imma Jeanne Alexander.

Are you looking to connect with other moms? Would you like a group of women you can share the joys and struggles of raising children in today’s world? Does finding a place where you can be physically and spiritually refreshed sound wonderful? Busy Moms Bible Study is a United Methodist Women’s circle for moms designed to focus on creating community and spiritual renewal. Join us on Tuesday mornings at 9:30am in DAC 415. The first, second and third Tuesday of the month are devoted to Bible study. The fourth Tuesday will include a service project, speaker or activity. Monthly, usually on the third Thursday,  the group will go out to dinner together giving everyone an opportunity to relax, enjoy and connect. Contact Ali Beckwith or Kristal Haskins for details.

Super Moms provides an evening group setting for study, worship, fellowship and service for women who work outside of the home. Super Moms meet the last Sunday of every month from 5-6:30pm. This UMW circle is primarily composed of mothers who work outside of the home.  We meet to discuss how to balance the day to day activities of working and taking care of our family.  We also complete service projects designed to promote Christian growth and fellowship. For more information, contact Jenny Muzik.

Journeys CIRCLE

This UMW circle is mostly made up of moms of high schoolers, college students or young adults, but all women are invited. This group meets the third Tuesday of each month (September-May) 6:30-7:30pm in the DAC 414 for fellowship, worship, study and service. We also try to have a social gathering once a month. Contact Corinne Green for more information.

Prayer Covering Circle

This ministry promotes community and prayer by making lap size quilts, shawls, and afghans for individuals in need of comfort because of illness, loss of a loved one,  or those who are in the midst of a crisis. The creation of these coverings are made at home and prayed over at our meetings where we share ideas and get help if needed. Meets the third Tuesday of the month (except July and December) from 10am-12pm in DAC 414. For more information, contact Sarah Colvin or Paula Burda.

UMW Events

In addition to circle activities, the United Methodist Women at Keller UMC host a number of events:

  • Pocket Change Fundraiser – An annual congregational pocket change collection drive held each spring in support of a UMW-selected philanthropy.  In 2021, Pocket Change raised over $2,600 in support of the United Community Centers' Summer Enrichment Program.

  • Mission U – August 14, 2021 - Mission U events are great opportunities to study current issues impacting society, grow spiritually and be in community with fellow United Methodists working to put faith, hope and love into action.  2021's event will be held Saturday, August 14, at Keller UMC.

  • Sharing the Joy - November 13-14, 2021 - Annual alternative gift market, held in November, supporting both local and international non-profit and fair trade organizations.

  • Christmas Party – The United Methodist Women at Keller UMC invite all women to gather together for fellowship during this special season.
