Gorethy Nubushosi from the Congo Speaks at KUMC
Thursday, October 17, 2019, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
The UMW are excited to welcome Gorethy Nabushosi from the Democratic Republic of Congo to Keller UMC. She will share her personal stories about the sewing school and new primary school that she has started in the DRC.
Congo Restoration is an organization that is working to empower women and girls in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Under her direction, the group was able to start a sewing school for women who were unable to support themselves. Each term, forty women develop a useful skill by learning to sew. Keller UMW helped by providing 120 sewing bags for the groups' graduation and money for sewing machines.
In September 2019, the School of Compassion, a primary school for girls, was opened with two classrooms and four teachers. Girls in the Congo who normally have no chance for education, now have the opportunity to be educated through sixth grade and possibly higher. Keller UMW donated money toward this project.
All are invited to join us on October 17, 6:30-8pm, in DAC 410/411 to hear about this remarkable mission that is helping people in the DRC to help themselves.
