Belize Optical Mission Trip
Saturday, October 09, 2021 - Saturday, October 16, 2021
The average salary in Belize is $10,000 U.S. The population is approximately 400,000 and half live in poverty. While the government runs the health care system, and private health care is available, the level of services we use do not exist there. Vision care is one of the areas most lacking. There are very few optometrists and ophthalmologists in the country and purchasing eye glasses is very expensive.
Keller UMC teams up with St. Luke UMC in Belize to help provide eye screenings to the community. No experience is necessary to join the team, we will train you. The services of non-clinical members provide include: pre-screening, glasses dispensing, fitting, cleaning, orientation and glasses case/sunglasses distribution.
Trip dates are October 9-16.
Cost per person is $1,500 which includes airfare, lodging, transportation and food.
