Choosing Joy: KUMC Women's Conference

Choosing Joy: KUMC Women's Conference

Saturday, September 28, 2019, 9:00 AM - 3:25 PM

Location: Keller UMC, 1025 Johnson Road, Keller, TX US 76248

Cost: $20.00

What values drive the choices you make? The value of security, the value of acceptance, the value of success? Some people choose a job and a life to impress others and work hard to maintain appearances. Other people live with persistent fear and anxiety and spend their energy avoiding conflict and trouble. And then there are those who seem to exist in a joyful glow. Their smile is genuine, their love for others overflows. They seem to have peace even in the midst of crisis. These are the people that all of us want to be around, the kind of people who are real and compelling. What are the values that drive their choices? What is the bedrock that underlies their joy?

Pastor Estee Valendy has struggled with issues of joy and contentment in her own life and has found guidance and wisdom in the Psalms and her practice of spiritual disciplines. At our women’s conference, Pastor Estee will present the keynote on Choosing Joy: Living with Peace in a World of Change and will share how a rootedness in our relationship with God leads to a life of joy and freedom.

Registration open August 24 - September 15.
Cost is $20 and includes lunch. Choose four breakout sessions from the following: (limit of 30 participants per session)

A Day In The Life Of A Missionary
Muriel Henderson
During our 45 years on the mission field in Southern Chile and South-Central Mexico church people would write asking what “a day in our life” was like.  Most everyday involved living with, working beside and teaching these beautiful people as they struggled with rural poverty.  The joy was seeing them learn new skills through development opportunities that assisted them to move from subsistence living to sustainability within their own culture, community and country.  Those days also included iguanas, snakes, armadillos, tarantulas, scorpions, mice and rats and other critters in our house  so come and learn how exciting and joyful missions can be.
